Music: “Hello Again” by the Cars
“You left the scene,
Without a trace:
One hand on the ground,
One hand in space.”
Just to let you all know, physically, I’m back in the Kansas City area.
Mentally, I’m… um… Let me put it this way, somewhere over the state of Kansas, I lost my concentration and we have yet to be reunited.
My brain is intellectually frazzled from all the information I’ve attempted to process over the last few days. I’m also a bit beleaguered by the regular pressure that comes with traveling and the physical strain of adapting to higher altitudes and operating on little sleep after staying up late watching bad horror movies on cable (an old habit that I rarely get the chance to entertain).
Also, upon returning to familiar terra firma, I was greeted with some strange breaking news about events that will have unexpected impact on people and places I know and have visited. Its strange to know that a brief news update that was mentioned during breakfast would grow into something much more striking and personal over only a few hours. I don’t want to get into specifics because I’m not completely sure what details I would be free to share. Suffice it to say it say, when I look at it in comparison to things I’ve recently worked on, some shadows are cast.
It is my hope that after a prolonged snooze in a bed that is familiar will do me some serious good. I would also hope that my concentration will be able to make an incredible journey, like many misplaced pets, and find its way back to me despite the distance and challenges standing between me and it.
There’s a lot to report; and as you might guess, I kept detailed notes.
For now, I conclude my pledge to let people know if I survived and will wait to write more until another day.
