11:00 PM - The Weekly Recap, Flashing Back and Forward

Music: Time Warp from Rocky Horror Picture Show

If it’s Wednesday, and I usual do this Monday, and the timing seems off…

Let me start this over.

In case you didn’t get the notice on Sunday, I’m incommunicado for the next couple of days. Hopefully, I’m in Wyoming wowing the paper that invited me to come visit regarding a copyediting position. I’ll be sure to post details as soon as I process them.

Note: You’re free to post comments to these posts while I’m gone, but since I still have the Blogger approve option in play, they may not appear until I get back on Wednesday to clear them. If I get access to a computer in the meantime, I will be sure to look though, so Wednesday is the worst-case scenario.

Knowing that I was going to be gone and not wanting to be forced to backlog post too many entries upon my return, I worked on a handful of items in advance (which, ironically enough caused me to flashback post other entries, but I digress).

I wrote two more in-depth bits for Monday and Tuesday and forward posted the usual weekly recap for Wednesday, the day I am scheduled to get back to Kansas City. I aim to have some sort of extra update posted by Wednesday night.

Read the posts on the day they were dated, read them all in one big go, ignore them like the other 99.999999 percent of internet users. It doesn’t matter. Right now, I’m doing my best to impress other people and not get altitude sickness at the same time.

Here’s the rundown on what I wrote:

Last Monday, December 5, I very briefly wrote about feeling sick and later got out our usual weekly rundown.

Tuesday saw wax nostalgic about “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and its still controversial anti-commercial, pro-Christian message.

Wednesday, in lieu of “Lost” ramblings, I contemplated various ways to calculate your worth at the end of the year, from automatic letters to Santa to plaintive missives Lovecraftian creatures.

Thursday, tackling a snow covered driveway brought back old memories of snow days, pay days, and playing with fire.

Friday, after looking up some new hyper texting options, I waste many hours reloading the page just to see the letters drop again and again.

Saturday I recount some fun weekend misadventures through scattered pieces of conversation.

Sunday was when I explained my physical absence and outlined my travel plans.

Monday I started the first part in a two-part series on guarding yourself and friends against dismal seasonal spirits. I call it, “The Holiday Survival Guide,” and I concentrate on the shadows that traditionally exist between tinsel and garlands.

Tuesday I conclude my “Holiday Survival Guide” by looking at what lessons we can learn from death (the Uppercase personification and the lowercase biological stage in life).

To come: See if I log in tonight to let people know how I survived my multiple connections to and from Wyoming (and the many stops in between).
