11:24 AM - The Weekly Recap, Proceeding with Caution
February 27 to March 6

Music: Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat from Guys and Dolls (1992 Cast)

If it’s Monday, and I’ve largely gotten over the sleep deprivation of the weekend, it’s recap day.

All the paper’s technical support people were in California last week. In the lengthy process of upgrading our system, we had a number of key players who were testing out programs and trying to learn enough to be able to turn around and explain it to others.

While they were in a different time zone, however, we were told not to tax the current system for fear of no one being able to fix it.

Right. Like we were crashing the system on purpose and if we scaled back, there would be no worries. Certain precautions included not hooking up a brand new printer that arrived the Friday before the troupe’s departure for fear if it might bring down the system.

Despite such cautions and fail safes, printer complications abounded, the internet got spotty, advertising’s e-mail was worse, and the designing program copped an attitude.

While many of us were put out and otherwise antagonized by these occurrences, I don’t think anyone was surprised.

Anyway, the library’s computers worked just fine (especially with the recent introduction of in-library-use laptops), resulting in a recent record of six posts in one week.

Here’s the rundown:

Last Monday, February 27, as the weather warms ups, I have several updates from the thaw, including my nearest brush with death that I’ve had since flying to Wyoming (hint, it has to do with my independent streak and brash disregard for the weather).

Tuesday I tell how I got stopped by a cop for my suspicious walking and how this only continues to make my sister look better in comparison. As always, you’re welcome, Sis.

Wednesday I explain a temporary gap in updates and how in trying to hurry and advance our timetable we sometimes fall behind on God’s.

Thursday I share a post that, admittedly, may be funnier to journalists, but hey, it’s my blog. A conspiracy of sorts is uncovered and the vice president’s mug almost makes the front page included in a package about the county hospital.

Friday I share how a reporter had her final day at the paper and how we worked hard to give her a proper sendoff that would make Mr. Wizard proud.

Saturday I present what I hope to be a semi-regular feature, a series of albums or recordings that I find to be comforting while removed from the bulk of my music collection. The fact that many of the first picks come from my parent’s library is discussed.

To come: Oscar reaction, a late final valentine, and recountings of rocky roads.
