11:33 PM - Timing and Communication
Music: “Tired of Waiting” by the Kinks
It's after 11 p.m.
I've sent everyone home, even after a semi-frantic mass redesign of the front page ("Are you sure you want to put the two dead bodies on the jump page and not the front?" "Why? Do you think people will be interested?")
Only after I've turned off most of the machines, dimmed the lights, and locked the front door did I learn that the very big package that my family sent me DID arrive today.
No one told me sooner, so I assumed it would come later in the week.
It's been sitting in the garage area of the paper's loading block, and if I want to keep it safe, I need to haul it home tonight.
Also, on an unrelated, and yet still significant note, I earlier pledged to take home one of the staff cameras tonight. It's a good thing my ever-present backpack is light.
Once again, I am amazed and chagrined of how the different components of the newspaper interact and connect with each other.
Wish me luck.
